The International Monetary Fund has reportedly encouraged Zimbabwe to implement key policy reforms ahead of launching its Staff-Monitored Programme (SMP). The IMF described this as “a significant milestone toward normalized international engagement.”
Government officials acknowledged the importance of these “baby steps” but cautioned that progress hinges on political cooperation. One senior finance official stated: “We are working closely with the IMF to ensure credibility.”
