Zanu PF blames Chamisa for failure to clean up cities

The ruling party Zanu PF says Nelson Chamisa should be blamed for the chaos being witnessed in the Citizens Coalition for Change movement and in all local authorities under the stewardship of the opposition.

Addressing his first press briefing Friday afternoon, Secretary for Information and Publicity, Christopher Mutsvangwa said Chamisa has failed to shepherd his party resulting in service delivery suffering.

Mutsvangwa said factions in the opposition are crippling service delivery.

Addressing a press, Mutsvangwa said Zanu PF is unfazed by the fights for supremacy in the main opposition and the motion that Chamisa wants to withdraw his party from parliament.

“Nelson Chamisa is a sour grape loser, his Members of Parliament won, he lost, and he is not gracious to them,” said Mutsvangwa.

Mutsvangwa condemned the split and power fights among the opposition Citizens saying it the by-elections slated for February would help the voters redeem themselves from the jaws of confusion

Mutsvangwa blamed Chamisa for failing to consolidate interim power and maintain chaos sprouting from conflict between him and self-styled secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu.

“Chamisa is not gracious to his MPs so that they can discharge the responsibilities to the electorate simply because he has not attained the apex of power,” he said.

Mutsvangwa condemned the failed governance in local authorities and cities attributing failure to the main opposition city fathers and councillors.

“For years their party has enjoyed governance of cities and towns for two decades which was ample opportunity for the CCC ex-MDC to show that they are a part of government and made urban areas centers of excellence,” he said.

Mutsvangwa said the CCC is responsible for the decay the towns and cities are witnessing today.

He applauded the efforts being made by the government to clean urban areas such as Harare.

“We are seeing graphic pictures of the amount of cabbage that have not been collected over the decades which now requires yellow equipment to move tonnes and tonnes of litter which was afflicting towns and neighbourhoods as if there were no city fathers,” Mutsvangwa said.

However, CCC spokesperson, Promise Mkwananzi dismissed the allegations made by Mutsvangwa saying Zanu PF has long arm-twisted all funding and equipment mend for proper urban and town development.

“It's the central government of ZANU-PF that is failing Zimbabweans by destabilizing council through illegal recalls and imposing their preferred choices on the residents of Harare,” Mkwananzi said.

Mkwananzi said Chamisa was not a bitter loser.

“Chamisa is in 100% charge of the party and the broad masses of our people are 100% behind his able leadership,” said Mkwananzi.

He said on the contrary it is ZANU-PF who are bitter and have been running a victictive campaign to punish CCC supporters for voting for the opposition.
