A Harare Magistrate has convicted Former Zengeza West MP Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole MP for Chitungwiza North for incitement to commit public violence.
Wilson Waison and Rutendo Maraire
Magistrate Tafadzwa Miti convicted the duo at the end of a full trial but postponed to Monday for mitigation and sentencing thereafter.
This is the second conviction for Sikhala since his arrest and imprisonment a year and a half ago.
Meanwhile, in a separate matter, Magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka has postponed a judgment in which Sikhala is accused of communicating falsehoods to February 7.
The development follows the failure of the National Prosecuting Authority to meet timelines for submitting written arguments in Sikhala’s matter of communicating falsehoods.
In the matter before Magistrate Miti, Sithole is out on bail and ironically Sikhala has been jailed since June 2022 for the same case.
The Duo represented by Harrison Nkomo will appeal the magistrate's ruling to the High Court after mitigation and sentencing slated for Monday
