Britain has formally expressed objections to Zimbabwe’s bid to rejoin the Commonwealth, citing concerns over governance and human rights. In Parliament, Foreign Affairs Minister Amon Murwira acknowledged this, saying, “Britain objects to Zimbabwe’s return to the Commonwealth.”
This announcement follows Zimbabwe’s withdrawal in 2003 due to suspended membership after disputed elections. Murwira called on international partners to reconsider their objections in light of ongoing reforms, emphasizing the country’s new democratic path.
